Tips for choosing your wedding suit

Looking for the perfect wedding suit? It's not just a matter of style but a reflection of your personality on the big day. From selecting the right fabric to perfecting the fit, a made-to-measure wedding suit offers a unique opportunity to bring your vision to life. When opting for tailoring, we'll ensure your suit fits perfectly, and you can customize it entirely to your liking.

Here are some tips to make these choices easier:

Budget:
Determine your budget for the wedding suit beforehand. This will help limit your choices and ensure you stay within your financial means.

Style and Theme:
Consider the style and theme of your wedding. Do you want a traditional suit, a modern look, or something else? Are you opting for a three-piece or two-piece suit? Do you prefer a suit or a combination of jacket and trousers? Making these choices in advance will help you reach your ideal outfit more quickly and clearly.

Fit:
The fit of the suit is essential. When opting for a made-to-measure suit, we'll ensure that the suit complements your body type and feels comfortable when worn.

Fabric and Material:
Choose a fabric and material that suits both the season and the location of the wedding. Lighter fabrics like a blend of wool, silk, and linen are suitable for summer weddings, while wool or cashmere is more suitable for cooler temperatures.

Color:
Traditionally, wedding suits are chosen in neutral colors like dark blue and gray. However, we're seeing more choices for lighter shades and pastel tones in the aforementioned fabric blends. This gives a more playful look and makes it slightly less formal. You might also consider making the vest in a different color for a three-piece suit to create a more unique look.

Suit Construction:
It's important to note that a jacket can be constructed in various ways. Cheaper suits are made with a fused interlining, resulting in a stiffer jacket. The jacket appears rather angular and doesn't fit comfortably. We always opt for a full-canvas construction, made from a blend of linen, horse/camel hair, which results in a beautifully draping jacket with more freedom of movement and greater durability. Canvas is actually the "engine" of the suit and therefore not visible from the outside. It is attached at several points between the fabric and the lining.

Accessories:
Consider the accessories you want to wear with your wedding suit, such as a tie, pocket square, cufflinks, and shoes. Will you go for a more classic ivory-colored silk tie, or something more striking with a patterned silk tie?

Timing:
Start looking for your wedding suit early so you have enough time and aren't under pressure to make a last-minute decision. Also, don't come too early if you plan on losing a few pounds. We recommend visiting about 8-12 weeks in advance.

As you now know, there are quite a few choices to make to achieve your ideal wedding suit. The price is primarily determined by the choice of fabric and construction. Additionally, you can choose between our atelier in Asia or Italy, which also affects the price.
